Sahib I. Giray

Sahib I. Giray (* 1501 ; † 1551 ) was the son of Meñli I. Giray , the Khan of the Crimea and from 1521 to 1525 Khan of Kazan and from 1532 Khan of the Crimea.

In 1521, with the support of his older brother Mehmed, Sahib was enthroned on the throne of the Kazan Khanate with whom he went to war against the Grand Duchy of Moscow in the spring of 1521 , inflicting several defeats on it and forcing it to pay tributes. The Khan Palace of Bakhchysarai was built under Sahib together with the Great Khan Mosque .

After the death of his brother Saadet I. Giray in 1532, he took the throne of the Crimea. In 1541 he again moved against the Muscovite Empire.

He was succeeded in 1551 by Devlet I. Giray , a grandson of Meñli I. Giraj.
