The Saia-Burgess Controls Ltd. , shortly SBC, is a 100% subsidiary of Honeywell . It has been developing, manufacturing and selling electronic components and systems for control and regulation technology since 1950. The products are mainly used in heating, ventilation and air conditioning technology as well as in energy management and water systems. OEM production is another pillar. SBC produces around 2 million I / O points, 40,000 CPUs and over 700,000 small devices annually.

history

  • Saia-Burgess was founded in 1989 through the merger of SAIA (Société Anonyme des Interrupteurs Automatiques) AG, founded in Bern in 1920, and Burgess Products Ltd., founded in 1935 in Hickley / Great Britain . In times of administrative care , forced laborers were also employed at SAIA .
  • In 2005 Saia-Burgess was sold to Johnson Electric from Hong Kong. Previously, the Japanese company Sumida Saia tried to take over Burgess, the board of directors advised the shareholders to reject Sumida’s offer. The turnover of the former Saia-Burgess Group in the 2006/2007 financial year was 580 million US dollars. After the takeover, the small motors / microswitches division was integrated into the Johnson Electric group and has since operated as Johnson Electric Switzerland. The control / energy meter division retained the old brand name and was spun off into Saia-Burgess Controls AG, in which Johnson Electric holds the majority.
  • On February 1, 2013, after the transaction was first announced in October 2012, Saia-Burgess Controls AG, including the "Saia PCD®" brand, was acquired by Honeywell for a purchase price of US $ 130 million. The change of ownership brought a change in the logo.
