Lists on the subject |
An Arab saif is a saber from Arabia.
In the Arabic, Persian and Turkish-speaking areas, edged weapons are still systematically classified differently than is usual in Europe; In particular, the conceptual distinction between saber and sword is missing (the Arabic word saif , the Persian word shamshir and the Turkish word kılıç simply translate to sword , although the corresponding weapons usually have curved and often only single-edged blades ). A saber with a strongly curved blade is called a Kilidsch , a saber with a less curved blade is called a Saif.
description
An Arabic saif has a curved, single or double-edged blade. Depending on the version, the blade is equipped with one or more hollow grinds of different strengths. The blade is either the same width from the handle to the location , or becomes wider towards the location. The place is slightly rounded. If there is a back edge, it runs from the place to the handle and is about 20 cm long. There are different versions of the booklet form. There are versions (see Related links) with and without hand guard, as well as cross or annular parry . The blades are often made of Damascus steel . The Arabic Saif is used by ethnic groups in Arabia.
