Saint-Leu-Taverny was a municipality in what was then the Seine-et-Oise department that existed from 1806 to 1915 through a merger .

The very similar sounding dominion of Saint-Leu-lès-Taverny was mentioned in 1479 at the latest. There have been mayors since the French Revolution in 1789. In 1790 the Seine-et-Oise department was created, in which the village was located. From 1794 the community was called Claire-Fontaine cy-devant Saint-Leu ("Claire-Fontaine formerly Saint-Leu") or Claire-Fontaine for short .

By decree of June 16, 1806, Claire-Fontaine cy-devant Saint-Leu was merged with the municipality of Taverny to form Saint-Leu-Taverny . Between 1852 and 1870 it was renamed Napoléon-Saint-Leu-Taverny . In October 1915 the communities became independent again and divided into Taverny and now Saint-Leu-la-Forêt .
