Saint Louis des Pères Capucins is a Roman Catholic church in downtown Beirut, the Lebanese capital . It is the episcopal church of the Latin Apostolic Vicariate of Beirut, established in 1953 .

history

The church was built in 1864 by missionaries of the Capuchin Order . It received the name of a previously existing church building of the Capuchins, which was named after the French King Louis IX. had been named. After the Lebanese Civil War , the church was one of the first historical buildings to be restored. The Holy Mass is unlike other churches Beirut in French held. The church is located about 200 meters west of Sāhat an-Najma , the Sternplatz. It is a cruciform basilica in historicizing forms of the Crusader Gothic with a large crossing dome. The six-story bell tower is on the north side of the choir .
