The Sakakibara ( Japanese 榊 原 氏 , Sakakibara-shi ) were a family of the Japanese sword nobility ( Buke ), which was derived from Nikki Sadanaga ( Seiwa-Genji ). With an income of 150,000 Koku , the Sakakibara , who last resided in Takada ( Niigata Prefecture ), were among the great Fudai daimyo of the Edo period .

genealogy

  • Toshinaga ( 利 長 ), Sadanaga's son, settled in Sakakibara ( province of Ise ; today part of Tsu ) and named himself after this place.
  • Yasumasu ( 康 政 ) served Ieyasu and received the Tatebayashi - han ( Kōzuke ) in 1590 with an income of 100,000 koku . His descendants resided in the following castles:
  • Masataka ( 政 敬 , 1843–1927) was the last daimyo of this family. From the Meiji period , the bosses of the house held the title Vice Count .
