Salaheddine Bassir ( Arabic صلاح الدين بصير, DMG Ṣalāḥ ad-Dīn Baṣīr ; Born September 5, 1972 in Casablanca , Morocco ) is a retired Moroccan football player .
Career
During his club career, he played for Raja Casablanca where he started, al-Hilal , Deportivo La Coruña and OSC Lille . With Al-Hilal Riad he was Saudi champion in 1996, with Deportivo La Coruña he won the Spanish championship in 2000.
One of the greatest successes as a Moroccan national player is the successful qualification for the 1998 World Cup , where he was the most successful Moroccan with four goals and thus played a major role in reaching the World Cup. He also scored two goals at the World Cup itself.
Due to numerous injuries, he had to end his active career in 2003. With 27 goals in 59 international matches, he is the record scorer for the Moroccan national team.
