history

The Salambo (front left) in the Große Freiheit 11

The Salambo was opened at Große Freiheit 11 in the 1960s . In the 1970s, the business moved to Große Freiheit 39, on the premises of the former Star Club .

At a time when the elastic of the panties had to be at least five centimeters above the women's pubic triangle during public performances , live sex could be seen here on stage. The era of the "Salambo" ended for the time being in 1983, when competitors burned the shop down . It called itself an "erotic theater" and was known for its extremely revealing stage shows, in which, in addition to imaginative striptease, sexual intercourse was shown in all variations. The Salambo Theater was closed several times on suspicion of promoting prostitution and reopened by its operator René Durand (1927-2013), as this suspicion was never proven. In 1997, after a former employee was incited to give false testimony, it was closed for good. In total, the “Salambo” existed for around 30 years. Today there is a table dance club in the Salambo .
