Saliou Ndiaye (diplomat)

Saliou Ndiaye (* in Saint-Louis ) is a Senegalese diplomat . He was Senegalese High Commissioner in Gambia from 2014 to 2019.

Life

Saliou Ndiaye attended elementary and secondary school in Saint-Louis. Then he began higher education at the Université de Dakar and then at the École normal supérieure de Saint-Cloud (France) as an auditor at the Institut d'Administration des Entreprises in Nancy (Business Administration Institute) and at the Université Nancy-II , he PhD in history, economics, and ancient history. In addition to his humanities studies, Ndiaye completed an additional degree in business administration at the Université Nancy-II and obtained a Diplôme d'Etudes Supérieures Spécialisées (DESS) in business administration.

Professor Saliou Ndiaye is an expert in Romance studies who specializes in conflict studies. He was a professor in the Faculty of Humanities. He was rector of the Université Cheikh Anta Diop in Dakar , as well as dean of the faculty for arts and social sciences. He is also the author of over 60 publications.

Ndiaye came to Gambia in 2014 as Senegalese High Commissioner, the Macky Sall government , succeeding Babacarr Diagne (or Babacarr Jagne ), who was transferred to the United States. He delivered his accreditation letter to Yahya Jammeh . During Ndiaye's five-year term in office, the political crisis fell in Gambia, when outgoing President Jammeh refused to accept the election defeat. Ndiaye played a crucial role for his country and the members of the West African Economic Community (ECOWAS) to ensure peace and stability in Gambia, and for the peaceful resignation of former President Jammeh.

Bassirou Sene , the former Senegalese ambassador to France, is to be his successor in Gambia.
