Salman Mümtas
Salman Mumtaz (* 20th May 1884 in Shaki , † 6. September 1941 at Orel ; pseudonym, real name Asgerow ; Azerbaijani Salman Mümtaz ) was an Azerbaijani literary scholar and poet .
Life
Salman Mümtas studied in Ashgabat and spoke not only Azerbaijani but also Persian , Arabic , Russian , Turkish and Urdu . From 1929 to 1932 he worked as a scientist at the Literature Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR , most recently as head of the department of Azerbaijani literature. He worked u. a. in the publications of works by Nasimi , Qovsi Tabrizi , Vagif , Zakir , Mirza Schafi Vazeh et al., and in the historical-critical editions of Khatai , Fuzūlī et al.
On October 8, 1937, he was arrested in the course of the Great Terror and shot on September 6, 1941 in a prison near Oryol.
