Salman Susayev

Salman Susayev ( Hebrew זַלְמָן סוּזָאיֵּיב, * February 14, 1911 in Riga , Russian Empire ; † February 25, 1981 in Israel ) was an Israeli politician , member of the Knesset, and entrepreneur .

Life

Susayev studied at the University of Latvia in Riga, where he headed the Hasmonea Jewish student union . In 1935 he immigrated to Palestine , where he worked as a businessman. From 1949 to 1950 he was the President of the Israel Association of Importers and Wholesalers , and from 1950 to 1952 he was the President of the Tel Aviv Chamber of Commerce . From 1965 to 1969 he was the president of the Israeli Employers' Association and in 1969 became the executive director of the Council for Public Lenders . After his death he left behind his wife Roli (1915-2002), two daughters and a son. Susayev was buried in the Nachlat-Jitschak cemetery in Tel-Aviv .

Politician

Susayev was elected as a member of the Knesset for the General Zionists in 1951 . From June 15, 1953 to June 29, 1955, he was Deputy Minister for Economy and Trade (2nd legislative period or 4th and 5th government). From August 15, 1955 to November 30, 1959, he was a member of the Knesset Finance Committee of the Third Knesset.
