The Salmon Creek Railroad was a 150-meter-long private museum - narrow-gauge railway from Jim Walsh in Fallon in Nevada .

history

Jim Walsh (born October 21, 1930 in Inglewood , California - † June 10, 2018) was Executive Vice President of JV Corporation. He was interested in everything to do with railways and after moving to Golden Valley , Nevada in 1976 , he built a model railway on the Feather River Route, among other things. He owned a collection of three narrow-gauge steam locomotives that he had imported from Alaska to save from scrapping. For this he built a locomotive shed and a short section of track in Fallon.

Locomotives

The Porter steam locomotive with factory number C / N 1421 was built in 1892 for Berner's Bay Mining & Manufacturing Co. as their No. 1. It was called Seward . She rode the Salmon Creek Dam Railroad in 1912 and was transferred to Annex Creek in 1913, where she was retired in 1915. Jim Walsh acquired it in 1976 and restored it to a working condition. The cylinders are 7 × 12 inches (178 × 305 mm) bore × stroke, and the wheels are believed to be 24 inches (610 mm) in diameter. It has occasionally been demonstrated at the Nevada State Railroad Museum in Carson , Nevada.
