The Salov SpA (Società per Azioni Lucchese Olii e Vini) is an Italian cooking oil rather plate . The company, based in Massarosa in the province of Lucca , produces, processes and sells extra virgin olive oil under the Filippo Berio and Sagra brands as well as other olive and edible oils such as sunflower , peanut , corn and deep-frying oils in more than 60 countries. Salov has a market share of 19% in the USA and 23% in the UK (as of 2014). The company employs around 250 people and in 2007 generated sales of 330 million euros.

history

The company, which was run by the Fontana family until it was taken over by Bright Food in the fourth generation, was founded in 1919 by a group of oil producers and traders from Lucca . Among the founders were the heirs of Filippo Berio with the family business founded in 1869, as well as the Fontana family.

In October 2014, the state-owned Chinese food manufacturer Bright Food signed an agreement to acquire a majority stake in Salov SpA through its subsidiary Yimin No. 1 Foods, subject to antitrust approval.
