The Salrer belonged to the oldest Bavarian families and were able to compete with at least 100 knights. As a coat of arms they led the black stepped gable in a white field with black crossbeams.

Their ancestral home was the town of Sallern , north of Regensburg . Her castle, which was last mentioned in documents in 1680, was also located there.

Adelgoz de Allaris was an episcopal ministerial and had land in Sallern. During the period from 1095 to 1128 he is mentioned in documents. Heinrich von Salrer had a property in Laub near Regendorf from the cathedral chapter, which was transferred to the old chapel in Regensburg on November 6, 1286. Otto and Dietrich von Sallern received two vineyards in Kruckenberg as a fief from the Bishop of Regensburg in 1307. In the same year they sold a vineyard in Sallern and some ponds.

In addition to the castle and vineyards, the Salrer owned other properties in Sallern. They later appear as episcopal judges in Stadtamhof, Donaustauf, Demling and Schwabelweis.
