With the Salsódromo of the city of Cali in the department of Valle del Cauca , Colombia , the opening event of the Feria de Cali takes place every year , a city and folk festival with a carnival character , which lasts from 25 to 30 December. As with Sambadromo of Rio de Janeiro street stands will be erected for the spectators on both sides. Salsa caleña is traditionally offered here as a cultural asset of the city of Cali.

Over a distance of one kilometer, on the central north-south connection Autopista Suroriental , between Carrera 62 and 40 in the city center, the members of the municipal salsa schools and their guests dance through the streets. The artists present their talents. The show is one of the largest cultural events in Colombia, has a great tradition with the caleños , as the people of Cali call themselves, and is a global institution. In 2019 the Feria de Cali will take place for the 62nd time.

From the stands, the public can watch the world's largest salsa parade with around 1500 participants. Many tourists come from all over the world to watch the parade in the Salsódromo. The event itself lasts five hours and takes six months to prepare. At the end of the parade, the grandstands will be removed again soon, as the Autopista Suroriental is one of the most important thoroughfares of Cali.
