The Feria de Cali is a city and folk festival and music festival that takes place every December in Cali , Valle del Cauca , Colombia . It is one of the most important and traditional festivals in the country and the continent. The most important events in the Salsódromo are the parades, salsa festivals , equestrian parades, bullfighting on horseback , bullfighting , meetings of music lovers and collectors, beauty contests, fashion shows and gastronomy exhibitions, classic and antique vehicle parades and the famous “Superconcierto”.

The Feria de Cali, or originally Feria de la Caña, Feria de la Salsa or Feria de la Rumba, has been held since 1957 after Christmas between December 25th and 30th of the year. It is now one of the most famous and largest music festivals on the American continent and presents a variety of tropical dance rhythms from Vallenato , Cumbia , Merengue , Salsa to more modern styles such as reggaeton . For this purpose, music groups and orchestras from the USA , Cuba , Colombia, Central and South America and the Caribbean will give a series of live concerts.

origin

After an accident in 1956, which was caused by military trucks loaded with explosives and resulted in 110 deaths in the population, the "Feria de la Caña" was launched in 1957.
