Salsali was born in Tehran in 1964 and studied economics, strategic management and marketing in Germany and England with a focus on industrial design. In 1993 he graduated from the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich.

Parallel to his studies, he was also active in the raw materials industry. He founded a management consultancy for the installation of innovative and environmentally friendly technologies in oil companies. He later got involved in the real estate business and campaigned for the preservation of historic buildings.

Ramin Salsali started his art collection when he was 21 years old. Since 2000 he has been trying to find a way to share his art with the public. In April 2011 he decided to open a private museum in Dubai. The SPM is the first private museum for contemporary art in the Arab art world, in which over 500 works from Salsali's collection are presented. These are divided into forms of expression such as painting, photography, film art and sculpture.

Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum , Vice-President of the UAE, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai became aware of Salsali and honored him in 2010, 2011 and 2012 for his help and commitment to the Dubai art scene as "Patron of the Arts".

Forum for collectors

Salsali advocates the theory that an art collection is itself art and therefore a collector is also an artist. His museum is not only a museum, but also a center where international collectors meet to exchange ideas. In the SPM collectors, gallery owners and artists are to be networked with one another.
