Erwin Olaf (* 2 July 1959 in Hilversum as Erwin Olaf Springveld ) is a Dutch photographer .

Life

After finishing school, Olaf studied journalism at the School of Journalism in Utrecht . As a photographer, he worked for advertising campaigns for international companies such as Levi's , Microsoft and Nokia . Many of his photographic works are provocative and attract attention in the international media. Olaf's photographs have been exhibited in various international galleries around the world, for example the Flatland Gallery in Utrecht, the WAGNER + PARTNER gallery in Berlin, the Hasted Hunt in New York City, the Magda Danysz gallery in Paris, and the Espacio Minimo gallery in Madrid, in the B&D Gallery in Milan, in the Miller Gallery in New York City, in the Crown Gallery in Brussels, in the Reflex Gallery in Amsterdam etc.

Olaf is also represented with exhibitions in many art museums around the world, for example the Moscow Museum of Modern Art in Moscow, the FotoMuseum Provincie Antwerpen , the Groninger Museum , the Domus Artium 2002 (DA2) Salamanca , the Spanish Museum of New Art in Pontiac, in Bologna Museum of Modern Art , in the Muzeum Miejskie Wrocławia in Wroclaw , in the Culture Laboratory in the Limburg Museum in Venlo, in the Institut Neerlandais in Paris, in the Arts Statements Gallery in Hong Kong, Galleri Tapper-Popermajer in Teckomatorp , in the Photo Museum The Hague , in the Australian Center for Photography in Paddington etc.

Olaf designed the Dutch euro coins issued since 2014 with the head image of King Willem-Alexander .

In 2004 Olaf was chosen among the De Grootste Nederlander list on Dutch television. On October 31, 2011, he received the Dutch Johannes Vermeerprijs, endowed with 100,000 euros .

Olaf lives and lives in Amsterdam .
