The Salto del Penitente is a waterfall in Uruguay .
This tourist attraction is located in the Lavalleja department near the city of Minas in the middle of the Parque Salto del Penitente . Access to this area is at kilometer 125 on route 8 . From there, a path about 18 kilometers long leads to the 60 meter high waterfall. In 2004 a building was built into the rock near the waterfall, which serves as a rest house and lookout point.
