The Salvus Mineralbrunnen GmbH is a manufacturer and distributor of bottled water products. The main sales area is in Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia (especially in the Münsterland ). In 2018 the company sold over 154 million bottles of its beverages.

history

The first mineral well in Salvus was put into operation in 1994. In 1998 the company expanded and built a 2,000 square meter warehouse and dispatch hall. Another hall, this time 3,000 square meters, was built in 2000. In addition, the company has since had a new PET line (16,000 bottles / hour) for various reusable and non-returnable containers.

In 2001 the company expanded its market to the Netherlands . Two years later, the company's founder, Hermann Schürkötter, accepted his daughter Heike and his son Guido into the management. Due to the success of the company, further enlargements followed, so in 2004 a further PET filling plant (28,000 bottles / hour) was added, a new logistics hall with a transport bridge followed in 2008.

After several changes in the design of the bottles, the entire range was switched to the blue PET individual crate in 2013 and a new individual glass container was launched on the market from 2015.

In 2018, a fully automated high-bay warehouse (34 m × 62 m × 38 m) was put into operation. The high-bay warehouse is located on around 3,200 m² of land, right next to the company premises. Thanks to the shelf technology, it has a large storage capacity and offers space for 15,260 pallets, which corresponds to around 7.5 million bottles. Another glass filling line followed, which can fill an additional 28,000 bottles per hour.

In February 2019, the "TÖFTES!" Brand was launched, serving the demand for smaller reusable glass containers (20 × 0.33 liters), which end consumers demand, especially in times of increasing discussions about plastic and packaging waste.

Honors

Over the years, the company's water has received several awards. In 1997 the company was awarded the State Prize for Food for the first time by the German Agricultural Society (DLG) for above-average product quality. It has also received gold several times from the DLG, most recently in 2016 for a total of eight articles, and since 2006 the International Food Standard award "at a higher level". In 2012, the company briefly came under fire after failing the consumer magazine Öko-Test . The magazine had detected pesticide metabolites in the Salvus Naturell and Sawell Naturell brands . The report was picked up by ZDF and published under the title "Bottled & Aufgetischt" in the program ZDFzoom . According to the managing director Heike Schürkötter and the Office for Veterinary and Food Monitoring of the Steinfurt District, both reports are falsifying. According to the Federal Environment Agency, the identified pesticide metabolites are not toxicologically relevant. Nevertheless, measures were taken and the well in question was closed.
