Salt festival

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Salt Festival takes place in memory of the tradition as a city of salt, and in light of the tradition of the Halloren (Halle salt boilers) since 1995 as a folk festival in Halle (Saale) instead. In addition to the Lantern Festival, it is the second major festival in Halle (Saale).

Every year on the last weekend in September, a program is offered around the market on stages, at stands and with rides. The highlights include the Bornknecht race on the market square and the presentation of Hallor tradition and crafts on the Saline Island .

The salt festival attracts more than 200,000 visitors every year, despite its rather short tradition.
