Sam Vanni (until 1941 Samuel Besprosvanni ; born July 6, 1908 in Wiborg , † October 20, 1992 in Helsinki ) was a Finnish painter.

Life

Vanni's work in the 1930s was shaped by the École de Paris . After the Second World War he turned to constructivism . From 1952 he stopped painting. His work was influenced by Kandinsky's On the Spiritual in Art as well as Richard Mortensen , Edgar Pillet and Victor Vasarely .

His works are often related to architecture. In 1959 he created the fresco Contrapunktus at the Helsinki Workers' College .

Sam Vanni was also active as a teacher and influenced a large number of Finnish painters.

In 1965 he became an academic with the Finnish honorary title .
