Daka ( Dakka , Dekka , more rarely Deng or Tikk ) is one of the two languages spoken by the Chamba people in Nigeria , the other language is called Chamba Leko and is not a dacoid language .
Daka is a dialect continuum within the bantoid languages . The Chamba dialect is Samba Daka (also Samba , Tsamba , Tchamba , Sama , or Jama Daka ; also Nakanyare ) and is spoken by 90% of Daka speakers. Other dialects are Dirim ( Dirin or Dirrim), Lamja, Dengsa and Tola. Dirim and Lamja – Dengsa – Tola have different language encodings, but these idioms are occasionally also regarded as the dialect of the Daka, as they are very close to the Samba Daka and therefore cannot be sufficiently differentiated to provide a separate language.
The dacoid languages are named after the Samba Daka. Due to the dominance of English in Nigeria, which has been in effect since the British colonial era, the number of Samba Daka speakers is falling.
