Sambosachal are the "temples of the three jewels" which are considered to be the most important Buddhist temples in Korea . Each of the following three temples stands for one of the " three jewels " of Buddhism:
- Tongdosa ( kor. 통도사 , hanja 通 度 寺 ), located in the province of Gyeongsangnam-do , represents Buddha ( kor. 불 , hanja 佛 ).
- Songgwangsa ( Kor. 송광사 , Hanja 松 廣 寺 ), located in Jeollanam-do Province , represents the Sangha or the community of Buddhist monks ( Kor. 승 , Hanja 僧 ).
- Haeinsa ( kor. 해인사 , Hanja 海印 寺 ), located in the province of Gyeongsangnam-do near the city of Daegu , stands for Dharma or the Buddhist teaching ( kor. 불법 , Hanja 佛法 ). In this temple is the Tripitaka Koreana preserved that the UNESCO - World Heritage belongs.
