history

In 1990, Samsung had signed a technical licensing agreement with Nissan Diesel . The production of commercial vehicles - primarily heavy trucks - began in 1993. Another source mentions the year 1994.

The commercial vehicles division was spun off from Samsung Heavy Industries in 1996 to form Samsung Vehicles Commercial Co. At the same time, a new plant was opened in Daegu , which, in addition to the 3800 trucks already produced, should have an annual capacity of 200,000 small trucks by 1999. Together with the other Samsung subsidiary in the automotive sector - Samsung Motors - SCV formed the Samsung Automotive Subgroup from 1997 .

In September 2000, SCV received a cash grant of $ 279 million. In October production had to be suspended due to delays in imported engines. In November 2000, SCV filed for bankruptcy. It was not possible to find an outside buyer. Volvo showed no interest and talks with Renault also ended unsuccessfully.

In 1996 SCV had 1,400 employees.
