The Samsung Galaxy Tab S series is a series of tablet computers introduced in summer 2014 by the South Korean company Samsung with the Android operating system and Super AMOLED displays . The successor to the Galaxy Tab S series is the Galaxy Tab S2 series . Two size variants (8.4 inches and 10.5 inches) are supplied as WiFi or LTE versions with differently sized storage options.

Furnishing

The tablets' Super AMOLED displays have a resolution of 2560 × 1600 pixels (WQXGA). Color spectrum, sharpness and contrast can be adjusted manually in the settings. This also happens automatically when the user is in certain apps and z. E.g. reading an e-book or viewing photos and videos.

A SoC from Samsung is used as the processor , which operates eight cores at 1.9 GHz. This has 3 GB of RAM available.

Other innovations in the Galaxy Tab S series (some known from the Galaxy S5 ) are the fingerprint scanner, the forwarding of calls via Samsung's SideSync 3.0 software, a child mode that allows parents to switch to a child-friendly user interface, and a multi-window -Mode that supports opening several applications at the same time and is also implemented on other Samsung tablets.

Product problems

The back of certain tablets of the 8.4-inch version was deformed. Customers cited an unusual heat development as the reason for this. According to Samsung, this is a production error that only affects a small number of devices. The problem should not be due to overheating or the material used. Affected customers should contact Samsung customer service.
