Women's Alliance
The women's alliance ( Icelandic Samtök um kvennalista , often also Kvennalistinn ; German also women's list ) was an Icelandic women's party .
history
It was founded in 1983 and moved into the national parliament Althing in the elections in the same year , where it remained until the merger with other parties on the political left to form the new alliance Samfylkingin in 1999. However, some did not agree with this merger and switched to the left-green movement (Vinstri hreyfing-Grænt framboð).
The women's alliance was the first feminist party to be elected to a national parliament and was able to hold its own there. As a result, it occupies a special position among feminist parties worldwide.
