Integrated community of Leybucht
The integrated municipality of Leybucht , which belonged to the former district of Norden, was an amalgamation of the independent municipalities of Westermarsch I , Westermarsch II , Neuwesteel and Leybuchtpolder . It took place on December 1, 1965. All in all, the combined community on the Leybucht covered an area of 5641 hectares with 2215 inhabitants on December 31, 1966.
On July 1, 1972, the municipality was finally incorporated to the north . Since then, the former member communities have formed districts, each with their own local council.
