Integrated community of Leybucht

The integrated municipality of Leybucht , which belonged to the former district of Norden, was an amalgamation of the independent municipalities of Westermarsch I , Westermarsch II , Neuwesteel and Leybuchtpolder . It took place on December 1, 1965. All in all, the combined community on the Leybucht covered an area of ​​5641 hectares with 2215 inhabitants on December 31, 1966.

On July 1, 1972, the municipality was finally incorporated to the north . Since then, the former member communities have formed districts, each with their own local council.
