Samuel "Sam" Balter, Jr. (born October 15, 1909 in Detroit , Michigan, USA; † August 8, 1998 ) was an American basketball player . He won the gold medal with the US team at the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin . Originally, Balter didn't want to play in Nazi Germany due to his Jewish origins, but he was persuaded by Avery Brundage to take part.
Balter later became a sports reporter in Los Angeles , initially working for radio and later for television. He also appeared in some films and television shows, where he was always a radio reporter or sports reporter.
