Division history
Areas of application :
- Western Front: 1941-1942
- Eastern Front : 1942–1944
The 302nd Infantry Division was set up from parts of the 75th Infantry Division , 292nd Infantry Division and Home Guard Battalions on November 12, 1940 as a native division of the 13th wave of deployment in Neustrelitz in Wehrkreis II. After deployments on the western front in occupied France, including taking part in the defense against the Allied landing company near Dieppe in August 1942, on October 10, 1942, the infantry division was converted into a front-line infantry division and a short time later it was transferred to the eastern front in Voroshilovgrad in the Donets area , where it was first subordinated to Army Group Don and then to Army Group South . In December 1943 it was reclassified to a so-called Division 44 of the new type. After subordination to Army Group South Ukraine , the 302nd Infantry Division was destroyed in August 1944 as part of Operation Jassy-Kishinew near Tighina / Romania . Survivors were integrated into the 76th Infantry Division and 15th Infantry Division .
