San Frediano in Cestello (2011)

San Frediano in Castello is a Roman Catholic church in the Oltrarno district of Florence . The church stands on the site of a former Carmelite monastery and can be classified as Baroque . It is dedicated to Saint Frediano of Lucca , an Irish pilgrim who later became Bishop of Lucca .

The building is characterized by a dome towering over the area, which was completed around 1700, and a bell tower with a baroque helmet. The interior is designed as a hall church with a nave and a transept. The dome is painted with frescoes by Anton Domenico Gabbiani depicting scenes from paradise.
