San Frumenzio ai Prati Fiscali (Latin: Sancti Frumentii ad Prata Fiscalia ) is a Roman titular church .

overview

The parish was founded on March 18, 1968 with the decree Quotidianis curis by Cardinal Vicar Angelo Dell'Acqua . The church was built in the early 1980s to a design by the architect Eugenio Abruzzini and was consecrated on September 30, 1984. On June 28, 1988, the elevation to the title church of the Roman Catholic Church by Pope John Paul II followed.

Patron saint is St. Frumentius , Apostle of Ethiopia , first Bishop of Axum and founder of the Ethiopian Church .

The modern, semicircular church is structured in three areas: a descending entrance area, an area with seats and a chancel. In the apse seven symbols are depicted that make up the Deësis . All works of Slavic - Byzantine art were created by Luciana Siotto. The Way of the Cross was created by the Franciscan Father Andrea Martini .

The Congregation of the Suore missionarie della Consolata was able to use the chapel of Santa Maria Consolata , which belongs to the parish, pro bono.

The church is located in Via Cavriglia 8 in the Roman quarter of Nuovo Salario .
