San Joaquín is a city in the state of Carabobo in northern Venezuela .

It is the seat of the San Joaquín district of the same name . The city has a population of around 44,000 (2001) and is located north of Lake Valencia , at 450 meters above sea level. The average annual temperature is 27 ° C.

history

San Joaquín was founded in 1782 as San Joaquín de Mariara under the direction of Mariano Marti, Bishop of the Province of Venezuela. The first church was built in 1795 . In 1885 , Juana de Eleizalde introduced the famous Panelas de San Joaquín , one of the most famous sweets in central Venezuela.
