San Pietro

The Chiesetta di San Pietro (German: Little Church of St. Peter ) is a Catholic church in the city ​​of San Marino , capital of the dwarf state of San Marino , near the Basilica of San Marino .

The church was built around 1600 on the remains of an ancient building. It houses a precious altar made of marble , which in 1689 by musician Antonio Tedeschi was donated. A statue of St. Peter was made by Enrico Saroldi . In the crypt of the church there are two apse niches carved into the rock , where the remains of Saints Marinus and Leo were supposed to be . Inside the church there is a monument to Pope John XXIII. , established by the Government of the Republic.
