The Schloss Tegel sanatorium was the world's first psychoanalytic clinic. It was located in the park of the castle Tegel in Berlin 's Reinickendorf district .

history

The Sanatorium Schloss Tegel was first mentioned in 1910 when the Dutch violinist Alexander Schmuller was staying there.

The sanatorium was founded on April 11, 1927 by Ernst Simmel . In the concept of the hospital, research, clinic and training were combined in one house. After the global economic crisis , the sanatorium had to close in August 1931 - despite international initiatives. The concept of the clinic was modeled on the Menninger Clinic founded in the USA .

Sigmund Freud , among others, stayed here. Princess Alice von Battenberg was one of the patients .
