Sancho Garcés de Navarra

Sancho Garcés († after November 29, 1074) was a member of the House of Jiménez . He was the illegitimate son of King García III. of Navarre and thus a half-brother of King Sancho IV of Navarre .

Sancho Garcés is first mentioned on December 7, 1057 with his wife Constanza. He was lord of Uncastillo and Sangüesa . According to an unreliable tradition from the 12th century, he raped his half-sister Alberta, who was the wife of King Sancho II of Castile , whereupon he had to flee to the court of his uncle Ramiro I of Aragon , who in turn was the king's vengeance of Castile fell victim to the battle of Graus . In fact, García III. of Navarre no daughter named Alberta. With his wife, Sancho Garcés is mentioned for the last time on November 29, 1074, when he received a donation from Sancho IV. It is therefore unclear whether he was still alive when his half-brother Sancho IV was murdered in 1076.
