Sanctuarium Artis Elisarion
The Sanctuarium Artis Elisarion is a monument , museum and cultural center in the Swiss municipality of Minusio .
history
The structure was erected in 1926 and a circular building was added in 1939. After the death of Eduard von Mayer , the building was to go to the canton of Ticino , but the canton turned down this inheritance. In 1968 the building came to the city of Minusio. Damaged by decay and renovations in the building fabric, it was converted into a cultural center and opened in 1981 as Centro Culturale Elisarion .
Today it serves as an art museum with changing special exhibitions.
