Sanctus (Consul 270)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Together with Emperor Victorinus, Sanctus was consul of the Imperium Galliarum in 270 .

His name can only be found on the building inscription of Burgus von Mittelstrimmig : There the year of the consulate of " Emperor Victorinus and Sa [n] ctus" is mentioned as the year in which the complex was completed. In the literature, the inscription and thus the consulate of the Sanctus was partly dated to the years 268 or 269. Since Victorinus was only proclaimed emperor at the end of 269 and was already killed at the beginning of 271, but the inscription in question from Mittelstrimmig is dated May 23, it must have been created in 270.

Otherwise nothing is known about the life dates and the career of the Sanctus.
