Sandbüchel (Rorschacherberg)

Sandbüchel refers to an area in the east of the municipality of Rorschacherberg in the canton of St. Gallen . The Sandbüchel is about 450  m above sea level. M. , at the intersection of the Rorschach-Heiden-Bahn (RHB) and the Thalerstrasse, which connects Rorschacherberg and Thal .

Until the end of the 1960s, the Sandbüchel area was largely used for agriculture. After that, the area boomed into an agglomeration settlement. In 1972 a Sandbüchel stop was opened on the Rorschach-Heiden-Bahn, and in 1973 the easternmost section of the N1 motorway, today A1 , which delimits the area uphill, i.e. to the south, was opened.

The Sandbüchel is a typical residential area with no actual shopping or commercial area.
