Sandra Uschtrin (* 1960 in Hamburg ) is a German author and publisher.

Life

Uschtrin studied modern German literature (focus on GDR literature), newspaper studies and sociology in Munich. During an internship at Grafenstein Verlag, the first edition of the “Handbook for Authors” was created in 1985 - a collection of information in which companies and service providers related to the literary industry in Germany are listed . In 1996 she founded Uschtrin Verlag to publish the handbook herself (since then under the name “Handbook for Authors”). Since 2005 she has been the editor of the specialist journal Federwelt , and since 2016 of the journal “der selfpublisher” .

In 2014 Uschtrin founded the Authors World portal, on which knowledge and services are to be conveyed and made available that authors need to publish their texts. A year later, she added the Authors World Shop to the portal, which is the only fairtrade online shop to allow authors to share in the sales proceeds (7% of the gross shop price).

Honor

In 2019 Uschtrin became a member of the BücherFrauen e. V. named Bookwife of the Year 2019 because she has "made an invaluable contribution to professionalization and information, to exchange and networking among those without whom there would be no books: the authors.
