Sandrup

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sandrup is a farming community and scattered settlement in the north of Münster . Together with Kinderhaus , Sprakel and Coerde, it belongs to the Münster-Nord district . The remains of the former Max-Clemens Canal , the Sandrup-Sprakel-Coerde home in an old cottage and the Kinderhaus Gut, the former provincial estate of the Marienthal Clinic, are well worth seeing .

history

Sandrup was first mentioned in a document in the 11th century in a document from Cappenberg Abbey . At that time, Bishop Siegfried von Walbeck (1022-1032) stipulated that for the newly consecrated church of Coerde (Curithi), among other things, the peasantry Sandondorp was obliged to pay a tithe as an economic basis for the church and its clergy.

Since 1903 Sandrup has belonged to the parish Kinderhaus; politically, the peasantry was part of the St. Mauritz office until 1975. In the course of the regional reform , Sandrup was incorporated into the city of Münster on January 1, 1975.

Attractions

Today's Gut Kinderhaus, at that time Hof Schulze Brüning, was acquired in 1913 by the Provincial Association of Westphalia from the landowner Bernhard Twenhöven called Brüning - at a price of around half a million marks. The aim was to use the courtyard for self-sufficiency in the growing Marienthal Provincial Sanatorium and, in the future, to build a second “sanatorium and nursing home for the chronically ill” with up to 1,000 places. These plans did not materialize. For decades, however, around thirty patients from the sanatorium worked as agricultural workers on the farm. In 1990, Westfalenfleiß GmbH took over the management of the agricultural operation as well as the dormitory located on the premises, which until then had been a branch of today's LWL-Klinik Münster. Today there is also a farm shop and a cafe on the estate.

The Heimathof on the Max-Clemens Canal, operated by the Heimatverein Sandrup-Sprakel-Coerde eV, used to be one of the cottages of the Schulze Brüning farm. After extensive renovations, the courtyard was officially inaugurated in 1985 and several buildings have been added since then.
