The ommatoiulus sabulosus , also Common two-channel Schnurfüßer , ( Ommatoiulus sabulosus ) is a millipede from the family of Julidae .
It is round, between 15 and 58 mm long and has 45–58 torso rings and up to 107 pairs of legs. Two light-colored longitudinal bands on the back are striking. Bipeds roll up in danger and release a sticky, poisonous secretion. Sand string pods can secrete such a secretion without any threat.
The sand cordwort is widespread and common in Central Europe. The species lives in the litter layer of vegetation and is eurytopic , it is particularly common on fallow land. This millipede occasionally shows mass reproductions and directed migrations.
