Coordinates: 27 ° 59 ′ S , 119 ° 18 ′ E The Shire of Sandstone is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of Western Australia . The area is 32,666 km² and has about 90 inhabitants (2016).
Sandstone is located in the center of the state about 550 kilometers northeast of the capital Perth . The Shire Council is based in the village of Sandstone, where all residents live.

The Sandstone Council has six members. They are elected by all residents of the LGA. Sandstone is not divided into wards. The Council Chairman and Shire President are also recruited from among the Councilor.
