history

In 1993 a joint venture was established between Renault (45 percent) and China Sanjiang Space Group (55 percent) for the assembly of automobiles and commercial vehicles in the People's Republic of China .

Renault has invested about 100 million US dollars in the construction of the work. The theoretical annual production capacity was 30,000 vehicles. The Xiaogan plant ceased production in 2003, while the company remained as a legal entity. The year 2004 is also given for the end of production.

In 2012 a cooperation with Dongfeng Motor Corporation was agreed. Dongfeng took over Sanjiang's shares and increased its stake to 50% as part of a capital increase. At the same time, the company was renamed Dongfeng Renault Automobile Company .

Models

Production started with the Renault Trafic model . Later the Renault Espace was added, which was initially sold under the name Renault Univers .

Only around 6,000 to 8,000 units were produced, around 4,000 of which were Trafic.

From the year 2000 Renault had 300 copies of the Renault Scénic manufactured from CKD kits at Beijing Automotive Industry Holding , without this partnership being pursued any further.
