Sankt Martin am Silberberg
Sankt Martin am Silberberg is a town and cadastral community of Hüttenberg in Carinthia . The small, wooded, remote place is located at 1140 m above sea level near the border with Styria and has 76 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020).
The Gothic parish church , originally built in 1285, is visible from the Steirergraben with its mighty square tower. The dominant church building is surrounded by a cemetery and a small wall.
The townscape is determined by agriculture and inns. Historically, mining, which unearthed iron ores such as hematite and siderite , as well as precious metals such as gold and silver , was of local importance.
