Saint Peter ( Hebrew כנסיית פטרוס הקדוש, Knessiath Petrūs HaQadōsch ) is a Roman Catholic church building in Jaffa , Israel.
The Church belongs to the Custody of the Holy Land .
location
The building is located in the old town in the northwest, very close to the Mediterranean coast. Adjacent is the Nunciature of the Holy See for Israel. The St. Peter monastery belongs to the building complex .
architecture
The building, originally built in 1654, was destroyed twice in the 18th century. The current building dates from 1894, and extensive renovation work took place in 1903. The building in the neo-baroque style is designed with lead glass windows by the Munich-born Franz Xaver Zettler and faces southeast . A bell tower belongs to the building.
