Sant'Agata is a Roman Catholic church in Florence . The church is named after St. Agatha and is located in Via San Gallo.

History and art

The origins of the church go back to the 13th century, when a nunnery called Sant'Agata existed on this site. At that time, nuns of the Camaldolese order found refuge here. The facade of the church was designed according to plans by the painter Alessandro Allori , who expressed his admiration for the works of Michaelangelo in the mannerist design of the facade.
