Sant Jaume

Sant Jaume de Ransol is a small church of pre-Romanesque origin located in the center of Ransol at an altitude of 1745 meters in the municipality of Canillo in the Principality of Andorra .

The church bell bears the inscription S Jacobus Ora Pro Nobis 1832 . It is the year in which the former chapel was converted into a church.

Due to the construction of the new road and the village square, the church had to be relocated about 40 meters west of its original location. Under the direction of the architect Cèsar Martinell, it was dismantled stone by stone in 1962 and rebuilt at the new location in 1963.

The picture of Sant Jaume that is on the altar today dates from 1945.
