Canillo is a municipality ( Catalan parròquia ) in the north of the small state of Andorra . The center of the village lies at an altitude of 1,531 meters on a mountain side. It is divided in half by the Valira . The townscape is strongly influenced by the Middle Ages .
Canillo Church has one of the tallest bell towers in Andorra. Its height is 27 meters, the base is square, the roof is pyramidal. Historical documents are kept in the church; there is also a Gothic statue of Jesus . In the vicinity of Canillo is also the Romanesque church of Sant Joan de Caselles from the 11th / 12th. Century.

The old mill ( Moli Vell ) is often visited by tourists.
The Vall d'Incles valley near the French border is an important winter sports center. The winter sports resort of Soldeu also belongs to the municipality .
In 2005, the Mixed European Curling Championship took place in Canillo .
