Hannah Island is an ice-covered island in the Marshall Archipelago off the Saunders coast of Marie Byrd Land in western Antarctica . It is located between Hutchinson Island and the Guest Peninsula in the middle of the Sulzberger Ice Shelf .
The United States Geological Survey mapped the island based on its own measurements and aerial photographs of the United States Navy from 1959 to 1965. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1970 after the ionospheric physicist J. P. Hannah, who was part of the United States Antarctic Research Program in 1968 worked on the Byrd station .
